NY Woman Wrongly Diagnosed With Stomach Cancer; Sues Hospital

A woman who spent two years in an in-home hospice situation on a heavy regiment of morphine for no reason is now suing the hospital that wrongly told her she had terminal stomach and lung cancer.

In the fall of 2008, 85-year-old Ramona Jimenez went to the doctor suffering from stomach pains. The Brookhaven Memorial Hospital doctor told the woman that she didn’t have much time to live – she had untreatable cancer and should put her affairs in order. The woman, devastated, spent the next two years drugged beyond recognition – and only recently discovered that she had no trace of cancer in her body.

Jimerez’ New York medical malpractice attorney says that Jimerez and her family have lived through a nightmare – and that her wrong diagnosis is worth millions of dollars.

It is unclear why the woman was misdiagnosed with cancer or what went wrong. Brookhaven Memorial Hospital has not commented on the NYC medical malpractice case.
