Accidents and Construction Affect Westchester County Roadways

Westchester county roadways were greatly affected on Friday, October 14^th with construction work and car accidents causing road closures and backed up traffic. Did you find it difficult driving to or from work last week? According to the New York State Thruway Authority, a car accident on the Thruway took place in the northbound lane at Exit 8/8A, I-287 - about 11:30am.

The New York State Department of Transportation reported an accident blocking the right shoulder of the Sprain Brook Parkway in the southbound lane of the NY 100 exit area. Additional construction work on the Sprain Brook Pathway in both north and southbound lanes between the Bronx River Parkway exit to Dobbs Ferry Road in Greenburgh resulted in the shoulder and right lane closed until 2:30 in the afternoon.

Several locations were closed on the Saw Mill River Parkway on Friday due to construction roadwork in both directions between Bronx-Westchester County Line to Exit 17 in Greenburgh. The right lane and right shoulder of the road were closed until 2:00pm. Additional roadwork on the Saw Mill River Parkway in the soutbound lane in Bedford (at I-684) resulted in several lane closures until 3:30 in the afternoon. The northbound lane of I-684 starting at Exit 9A in Harrison had multiple lane closures until 3:30pm due to construction roadwork.

Construction work in both directions on the Cross County Parkway between Yonkers and Eastchester had multiple lanes closed until 3:00pm.

More construction work closed the right shoulder of the northbound lane of the Taconic State Parkway between Exit 26 and Exit 30 until 2:00pm.
