Burn Victim Lawsuit Set to be Filed

An act of religious violence ends in Aron Rottenberg suffering third-degree burns in White Plains, New York. His lawyer, Michael Sussman, is looking to file a burn victim lawsuit on Monday, June 20^th, against the religious leader of the Hasidic Jewish Village where Rottenberg lives and was burned.

Grand Rebbe David Twersky is not known for speaking out publically, but has previously said the use of force is "never permissible". Relatives of Rottenberg say he was targeted by followers of Twersky because he stopped worshipping at the main synagogue in the village. Rottenberg received third degree burns from a flammable liquid another man threw on him in his home.

Burn Injuries

A burn victim receives flesh injuries from heat, chemicals, electricity, light or friction. Most burn victims have skin damage only, but in some cases, the burn may go deeper and affect blood vessels, muscle and/or bone.

Burns are painful and can sometimes result in scarring, infections, the need for amputation or even death in severe cases. Burn treatment involves removal of dead skin and then applying dressings to the wound. Patients must take in large volumes of fluids which are usually given intravenously for severe burns, antibiotics, and sometimes skin grafting is required.
