Neighbors of a Bronx man called the police when they hadn't seen Francisco Osorio for several days. A woman who worked with Osorio in a clothing business said he wasn't answering his phone for days, and decided to go to his apartment to see what was going on. She spoke with Osorio's downstairs neighbor, Carmelita Continas, who also hadn't seen Osorio, and then when she noticed his door was slightly ajar and called police to investigate. Osorio was found stabbed to death in his apartment on W. 167th street, just before 3pm on September 8th. Osorio lived in the apartment with his boyfriend for about a month.
Police arrested the boyfriend at LaGuardia airport at 5:30pm, as he was about to board a JetBlue plane on his way to Puerto Rico. He has not been charged, but another neighbor, Margie Zorilla, said she saw Osorio on Tuesday, immediately after he had a fight with his new live-in boyfriend.
Neighbors were fond of Osorio, aged 44, and erected a memorial for him that reads: "In Memory of Francisco. We love you."
