Posted on Sep 20, 2011

A Mount Kisco man was listed in critical condition after he was hit by a train at the Mount Kisco Metro-North station. The incident happened on Sunday.

Angel Arriago-Hernandez, 36, was standing close to the train tracks on the platform on Sunday when a train pulled into the station. The train, heading northbound, struck Arriago-Hernandez and threw him back onto the platform. Arriago-Hernandez was transported to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhala. He suffered serious head trauma.

The train platform has a yellow bumped line along its edge to warn passengers to keep away from the tracks. Metropolitan Transportation Authority police are investigating the incident at Metro-North where there is an average of one death each month over the last twenty years. In most cases, the accidents involving passengers have been determined to be suicide attempts.
