

On Sunday, December 11th at 6:30pm, a car accident involving two cars in North Patchogue, New York resulted in one driver seriously injured and another dead. The car accident is being investigated by Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives to try and determine the cause of the crash.
The driver of a 2002 Toyota Camry, a 59 year old Medford woman, was sitting in the Gateway Plaza Parking Lot on West Sunrise Service Road. Witnesses of the car accident say the driver appeared to be slumped over her steering wheel as the car sped up across the parking lot, hit a curb, and landed on top of a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck driving down West Sunrise Service Road. Matthew Wick, age 52, was driving the Chevrolet. He was listed in serious condition at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital located in East Patchogue, New York. The driver of the Toyota was transported to the same hospital, and pronounced dead.
Investigations will include safety checks on both vehicles. The Suffolk County Police detectives are asking if anyone has additional information regarding this car accident to contact them confidentially at 631-854-8552.
