Truck Hits Comedian Russell Brand’s Sports Car In Manhattan

Posted on Aug 06, 2010

Actor and comedian 35-year-old Russell Brand was injured in a truck accident in Manhattan yesterday when a big rig allegedly struck the star from behind in a NYC rear-end accident.

Brand, who has recently starred in comedy films like “Get Him To The Greek” and “Arthur,” was driving a $238,000 luxury Lamborghini sports car at the time of the New York truck accident. Friends report that he was borrowing the car from a local dealership and did not own it. The car took an estimated $12,000 worth of damage in the 18-wheeler accident.

Brand suffered an arm injury as well as cuts and severe bruises in the truck crash. He was not able to exit the car on the passenger side, where he was located, but managed to crawl out of the driver’s side door. He was hurt and shaken by the crash, though he initially refused medical care and a trip to the emergency room. Sources say that his mother has flown in from England to care for her son, who a friend reported as “terrified,” even though the actor played down the truck accident on his Twitter page, saying that he had barely spilled his coffee.

Unfortunately, rear-end truck accidents and t-bone truck accidents are common in Manhattan, where clogged traffic, busy streets, and confusing intersections cause collisions each day. Especially when large, heavy trucks are involved, even New York City traffic accidents at slow speeds can produce significant property damage, serious injuries, and even death.
