A Yonkers NY woman was the victim of a vicious beating by two other females who then turned their pit bull canine on the woman as they held her down. The woman suffered several bite injuries until bystanders took over and got the dog away from the victim.
The victim was found by police who responded to a call for a fight in the street around 1:20 am. The victim was found lying in the road in a pool of her own blood. Injuries were visible to responding officers including facial bruising and dog bites that were located on her thigh, ankle, and elbow.
The incident was said to have occurred when words were exchanged between two of the women, resulting in punches being thrown. The two assaulters held the victim down and called on a man standing nearby with his pit bull. The assaulters asked the man to release the dog to attack.
The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and later released. One of the attackers was arrested by police while the other woman, the man with the dog, and the pit bull has escaped. The pit bull was brown and white in color and police are still looking for the participants.
This is not the first time a dog has been involved in an assault. Dog bites can be dangerous and even fatal to the victim. They can cause serious, permanent injuries, scarring, and lead to disabling injuries that prevent the victim from leading regular lives. Dog attacks in New York whether provoked by others or unprovoked by anyone can occur at any time. Pedestrians and dog owners each need to take responsibility for the health and safety of themselves as well as the general public.
Information about the recent dog attack can be supplied to the Detective Division at 914-377-7724.
